Key Accountabilities: The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his/her role and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and staff. Following are the main responsibilities:

Technical

• Ensure availability of safe & clean drinking / irrigation water in targeted communities in line with WHO, SPHERE standards, and emergency protocols.
• Identify the water sources (Wells, Hand pumps and Public health schemes) available in community
• Conduct water quality testing of sources and analysis findings for improving the quality of water
• Establishment / maintenance of Appropriate water quality instruments / Consumables in water testing laboratory at field offices
• Exercise corrective measure (water treatment) for purification of water at source by ensuring safety standards
• Ensure regular monitoring of water (post treatment) & treatment facilities to minimize the risks to public health
• Ensure to deal with waste water issues and its possible local solution for the communities the organization dealing with
• Conduct Environmental impact assessment (pre & post implementation) and devise mitigation strategies i.e. to avoid natural / manmade hazards (salt range, graveyard etc) that can risk human life & ensure safety to environmental protection accordingly.
• Conduct awareness sessions for communities on management of waste water and how to deal with contamination, desalination, disinfection & other issues that cause risks to human health (water borne diseases).
• Capacity building of communities on water treatment at house hold level     

Operational

• Preparation of weekly / monthly work plans against PMT (performance measured time frame) by ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in stipulated time period
• Coordinate with all stakeholders and specially community activists, COs, VOs, public health department and beneficiary households on water quality related issues
• Use del-aqua kit & other technical equipment’s for water quality testing and carry out trouble shooting of the equipment as & when needed
• In place contingency plan to deal with external factors affecting or may affect the field activities
• Maintenance of record (hard & soft) that includes but not limited to daily field visit reports, Water Quality testing reports, monitoring reports, pictorial progress & other documentation
• Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly and other progress reports for management’s info
• Ensure proper filling of forms & formats as per desired standard
• Extend support to MEAL / MIS / Communications staff for gathering desired information
• Ensure availability of up to date info in MIS on regular basis with consultation of MIS / M&E
• Close coordination with line manager for effective implementation of project activities

Organizational

• Ensure compliance with organization’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities
• In depth understanding of organization’s values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities
• Abide by the organization’s zero tolerance policy towards bribery & corruption through sensitization / empowerment of communities on coping mechanism so that they can raise voice as & when feel inappropriate
• Thorough knowledge of organization’s strategic priorities to ensure effective implementation with future sustainability
• Assist in identification & documentation of organizational successes for show casing organization’s work
• Facilitate communities in adaptation of environment friendly & cost effective approaches to meet their current as well as future needs with specific attention to climate change
• Focused efforts to be made for mainstreaming of marginalized groups i.e. Persons with disability and old age, minorities, Women & children etc in consultation & implementation of project activities at ground
• Strengthen mechanism to Influence the decision makers through communities to pay attention towards DRR planning, give voice to suffering and the excluded, highlighting the protection needs of people.
• Participation and facilitation in the implementation of IR seasonal programs

PERSON SPECIFICATION

It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the organizational values & principles, vision and mission as well as commitment to its SEAH (sexual exploitation abuse and harassment) protocols. We have zero tolerance policy towards SEAH and doesn’t support any action that promote or encourage SEAH.

Qualification & Experience : 

Bachelor / Master Degree in relevant subject (Environmental sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology)

5 years with Bachelor degree and/or 3 years with Master degree

Language: Urdu, English and local languages
