Program Background Summary:
Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) is seven years USAID funded project starting June 2013 with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education (DoE) throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of at least 1.3 million children in grade one and two. The goal will be supported by three interrelated components including improved classroom learning environment for reading, improve policies and systems for reading and community based support for reading in Pakistan. The anticipated results include 23,800 teachers in 23,800 public schools with improved skills in teaching reading, 3,649 scholarships for ADE and B.Ed. (Hons.) students, mobile bus libraries reaching out to 300 communities.
Job Overview/Summary
Under the supervision of Technical Director Teacher Training, assistant will assist the program team located in Islamabad central office.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support the program team in day to day operational and administrative matters
- Translation of RLM in Urdu and English
- Provide support to the component 1 team in organizing events at national level like generating EMRs, sending invitations, arranging material, taking minutes/notes during events, taking attendance etc
- Work closely with other sections for the implementation of program activities
- Maintain archives of teacher in-service professional development activities that include face-to-face trainings,
- Coordinate with provinces/regions for routine correspondence related to program activities
- Provide and manage relevant evidences in line with M&E requirement for different activities
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor degree in social sciences
Work Experience:
The candidate ideally has at least 01 year experience with demonstrated ability to:
- Translate /write materials in English language
- Manage DATA of the program
- Manage events/workshops
- Prepare and write reports
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Enter data and do analysis using MS excel
- Collect and maintain data (both in soft and hard form) in a logical order
Language Skills:
- Coordinate and communicate both verbal and written in Urdu and English, working ability in regional languages will be an asset
Certificates or Licenses:
- Use computer e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Power point, Urdu typing, inter/intranet etc.
